Hatch Planning knows that early communication with relevant stakeholders is an essential step in getting your project approved. Liaising with Council, referral authorities and potential objectors at the start of the planning process allows for saved time and stress when the application is being assessed by the council planner. The scale of your project and the relevant planning scheme will allow Hatch Planning to determine the best approach to take. Hatch Planning believes in giving clients upfront, honest, and open advice. If we expect that your application will be refused by Council, or will end up at VCAT, we will tell you at the outset. It is important to know and discuss these possibilities early on in the planning process, so that the best course of action can be chosen, and your project can be provided with the best chance for success. Hatch Planning understands the needs of Local Government and Referral Authorities, offering professional planning services specialising in urban and regional council operations. Hatch Planning offer assistance in assessing overflow applications on behalf of council departments, providing independent planning advice, or representing officer overflow work at VCAT. Hatch Planning understands the need to have applications determined in accordance with statutory timeframes and knows the risks to Councils that fail to do so.
Lead by a team of current and former Local Government planners, Hatch Planning know the pressures that councils can face in assessing and determining planning permit applications. Providing services to Responsible Authorities in a timely and cost effective manner on your behalf, Hatch Planning allows you the opportunity to get on top of your statutory planning workload. Where required, Hatch Planning can also offer representation at VCAT on officer overturns, Section 79 appeals, and any other planning overflow matters required by the Council. Operating remotely allows Hatch Planning to maintain project timelines and minimise delays due to conflicting schedules. In person site inspections, objector mediations, and meetings with permit applicants can also be arranged as required.

Sure, some large houses have been built in the area recently, but this is a completely different scale, and no one told you anything was in the works until now. The letter says that a decision won’t be made for 14 days; that’s hardly enough time to comprehend what is proposed and how it might affect you. Your other neighbours have received the same letter; none of them knew anything of this until now either. This is but one example of how planning applications can cause considerable concern and fear amongst communities.
